Got the second shot and, like they say, it was a little like being sick.  Mostly tired, a little achy on the arm that I got the shot in but it wasn't bad.  So I was being lazy but I'm hoping to be back tomorrow.

This latest police shooting has me so depressed I'm not sure that isn't part of it.  There is something very wrong with the police as they are, it's going to have to be changed.

  1. I'm old enough to remember (I'm getting tired of that cliche, but still I use it) when police shows on TeeVee (at least) reassured us that every time a police officer so much as fied a bullet (into the air, it fell to earth they knew not where) there was a 'board of review' and a lot of people concerned with why a gun was fired.

Reality? Prob'ly not, but it made us feel better.

Now a gun goes off and the guy at the microphone in a uniform is saying the officer with the gun confused it with a taser. Or the suspect acted "suspiciously." Or you can't be too careful. I mean, I get it. I went to the police department where my uncle worked once, when I was very young (this was easily 50 years ago now) and saw a poster advising officers to be cautious, that a new item in their lives was taking the panel off the interior of a car door and rigging a sawed-off shotgun so as they opened the door when the officer approached, the gun could be fired.

It's always been a dangerous job. But my uncle never fired his gun nor, so far as I know, was fired upon. Something is profoundly broken.
