Don't know how I heard it, it must have played on the radio stations I listened to after I got a better radio and started listening to the Boston college stations on FM. Wish I still had that old burner. Tubes didn't add fidelity but they added something . well, other than heat in the winter and moody light when you listened in the dark.

Update 2: Oh, and it really was going through my head. I got more stuff in my memory through repeatedly hearing it on the radio than I ever got in it by intention. The mass media is a lot more powerful and dangerous than the ultimate idiots, the civil liberties industry lie about it being. It really needs to be required to not lie with effective punishments when it does.

Chuck was a proven and known song stealer so, since he was the only one to claim he wrote the song Run Rudolph, all others who did a cover of it attributing it to that Old Faithful who gushed out Christmas crap songs instead of hot water and the hot gas you do, Johnny Marks, he likely tried to get credit and money for that one, too. Chuck Berry got ripped off, especially by white rockers who weren't as original as he was, but he did plenty of ripping off, too. Both in music and in business, thus his criminal record.

His criminal record started when he was a teenager robbed three stores in Kansas City and stole a car at gunpoin. He admitted to that in his autobiography. There is no doubt that he transported a minor over state lines and had sex with her. He appealed his first conviction, successfully but was convicted a second time in a second trial which he appealed unsuccesfully. Screwing a 14 year old should have gotten him a prison sentence without the transporting charge. There is the case where he assaulted a woman, cutting her face, the case of him having surveillance cameras installed in the Woman's rest room of his restaurant. Then there was the raid on his house where they found some pot and an "intimate film" of a number of women including a minor child. There's probably more but a quick google search to . . . well, when it's something so putrid calling it "refreshing" my memory isn't the most fortunate choice of words.
DeleteThe Mann Act violation would seem to have been upheld in the second trial and he didn't successfully appeal that one AFTER HE SUCCESSFULLY APPEALED HIS FIRST CONVICTION. It would seem the second trial was not found to be prejudicial. He was a scumbag.
I forgot to mention Berry settled the lawsuits that were brought over the surveillance camera so there's every justification to consider him guilty of it.

It's a friggin' vanity press, a "hybrid" press at best though I think it's a rather artificial distinction. Apparently one that gets a lot of civil war buff business including, according to its present "projects" list of three civil war books, one about ghosts at Gettysburg. I'd rather get it from a Halloween program where the Friends of the Library get a local ghost hunter to come in and give a talk at the public library for the sheer fun of it.

I'd have to see the cancelled check though I'd probably not trust it unless a forensics documents expert inspected it. If they did it must have been part of some scheme to lose money on something so they could avoid taxes on some other thing. Their website makes it pretty obvious that it's no "major publisher."
DeleteI was going to point out any number of "authors" who "wrote books" even when it was obvious that they didn't. The NYT Bestseller's List, especially the "nonfiction" side of it is full of books written by "authors" who certainly didn't write the and those are "best sellers." I am sure you could "rite a book" of fewer than 100 pages, if there was very little text on the pages. What was the list price for your best seller, Gender chameleons: Androgyny in rock 'n' roll?

Well, for a start I probably had a hand in the education of several times more musicians than who ever picked up your book to read the back cover of it. Not to mention the performances I played, maybe still will. I looked at the history of that company, it looks like it got bought up about that time in what looks like a larger corporation needing a loss leader. You, somehow, didn't make it's most significant publications list, such as that was.
