Just Curious

so I looked up what the CBS skank Jan Crawford to see which universities or colleges produced her.

She majored in "journalism" at the University of Alabama* and got a JD from the U. of Chicago.   Sort of a double whammy in terms of my themes here.

To back up my recent slamming of the "journalism" specialty of fluffling the Supreme Court, she did that for the Chicago Tribune,  the NewHour with Jim Lehrer, and Face the Nation.    She was enough of a fluffer that Supreme Court "justices" as varied as John Roberts and John Paul Stevens chose her to do those kinds of bespoke interviews that are the only kind that just about all "justices" will do.

And now at the Ellison-Weiss CBS, she's breaking their "journalistic" standards in support of paid Republican-fascist trolls pushing racist narratives.   Well, I don't think that she's a native white Alabamian is irrelevant to all of that.   Alabama being one of those states which has been under our native form of facist controll, white supremacy, for its entire history, apart from a brief era during Reconstruction (but going into that might get me back into ranting about Profiles in "Courage" again).

Such is American "journalism" under free-speech-press absolutism and the "right to lie" that was created for the NYT that her job is almost certainly more secure than Lesley Stahl's is at this point.   And I've been plenty critical of ol' Lesley in the past, too.  But compared to Crawford, she's a monument of journalistic integrity.

*  That goddamned movie and book, All The Presidents' Men and the academicization of what used to be better when it was the realm of those without degrees but who learned to be reporters on an apprenticeship basis has been part of the ruination of American reporting.   "Journalism" should never have been allowed to become an academic major.   Especially on the end where they hire the stupider sons and daughters of the affluent class who are too stupid to do what's most important to them, go into banking, insurance swindles and other direct forms of self-enrichment.    Now that the tech billionaire bros are hiring the executives and staffs at traditional media,  it's even worse than it was at the end of the last century when it was already totally decadent.
