THERE WAS A REASON that all Barack Obama had to do to be given the Nobel Peace Prize was get elected President of the United States. That was after eight years of the Rehnquist Court - Jeb Bush Florida imposition of George W. Bush as president resulting in a forever war in Afghanistan that might be excused if you can justify attacking that country instead of Saudi Arabia as the country from where the 9-11 attack was funded and mounted and the entirely unjustifiable Iraq war, the consequences of which have not stopped and which has cost many hundreds of thousands, really millions of deaths, maiming, displacement, hatred of the United States. . .
Oh, and then there's the Bush II financial collapse of 2008 as well as numerous other terrible consequences of the loser of the 2000 election being appointed president by the Bush v. Gore majority of five Supremes and Jeb Bush's regime in Florida.
Then after Obama came Trump I and the catastrophe of him, in that case it was the American disease, the Electoral College and the corporate media (NYT take a bow) as well as James Comey the FBI chief that installed him. Covid, economic recession and disasters, the havoc that Trump wreaked, the insurrection to do by force what the Roberts Court did a few years later by its decisions in the run up to the 2024 election.
When Joe Biden became president, at least he was spared a Nobel though he was constantly sandbagged by the American free press, Republican-fascists, billionaires, millionaires, etc. Even as he made the American economy the envy of the world in its recovery from the Covid recession, etc.
Then we got Trump II with the Roberts Court nullifying parts of the 14th Amendment to put him there and making him a monarch with immunity from prosecution in what many including the historian Sean Willenz has noted is the biggest court imposed disaster since the Dred Scott decision, a disaster which, if it is not abolished by drastic reform of the Supreme Court within the next three years could very well be the end of American democracy and could very well lead to another civil war, it did the last time. I hope my nieces and nephews will either live in a drastically reformed United States or that Maine will become part of Canada. Having a real king with no power is preferable to having the one we have now.
I won't go through the list of horrors Trump II has brought to the world, tariffs that are illegal under US law but which no court and certainly not the Republican-fascist Congress is putting anything like an end to. The daily law breaking. The attacks on America's allies, the love affair of Trump with any foreign despot, billionaire, millionaire, etc. who will bribe him, . . . . and the ever expanding Iran war.
America will not get it back by electing another Biden next time. I doubt anything short of a total and complete change of government to guarantee no more Bush IIs or Trumps will do it and America isn't about to do that. Oh, and one that permanently reigns in our power-mad Supreme Court getting rid of the Federalist-fascist Society majority one way or another, making sure another will never be installed. Getting rid of the Marbury power is not optional, it is the entire basis of their part in the corruption of everything.
Trump and the Republicans, all Republicans, in the Congress, in state houses and governorships, most of all in the Roberts Court have ended "the American century" definitively and permanently. We are in the period of Republican-fascist decline, brought here, finally, by the victor of our indigenous form of fascism, white supremacy and its alliance with the billionaires and millionaires, using every defect in the Constitution put there by the slave-power and its Northern financier allies (the entire Connecticut delegation led by Oliver Ellsworth was their staunchest ally in doing that) and the Ivy League Law, Federalist-fascist Society and, perhaps most culpable of all the great American free press.
