I'm watching the hearings, I'll try to post something tonight.

  1. Rachel Maddow apparently speculated these hearings would lead to Trump resigning in a plea bargain arrangement (his Presidency in exchange for federal jail time). I don't see it, if only because it requires Trump to plead guilty to crimes by taking the deal (implicitly if not explicitly).

However, his chances of re-election are rapidly approaching zero. Nobody will remember this day in detail in 2020, but they will be reminded of it over and over again. Even Trump's GOP "defenders" aren't defending him. All they have in their ammo box is attacking Cohen's credibility, and mostly what they've accomplished is to make Cohen look sympathetic, something I'd have sworn as late as yesterday was impossible.

    1. I'm not sure the best thing would be to force his resignation because I'm sure he will drive Republican numbers down even farther as he screws more mid-western farmers and people he suckered in the rust belt and other places. I hope one thing that comes out of this, that they restrict presidents from being able to pardon members of their administrations of families, Bush I's pardons should have been the end of that gurantee of corruption that the Founders left in the thing. Listening to one of the Democratic women, I realized I'd never be able to take the oath of office because I want a new Constitution that fixes the corruptions inherent in this one. I couldn't swear to protect and defend this one.
