Now There Must Be A Schism In The Catholic Church In Fact One That Has Been Going On A Long Time To Little Notice

READING THIS PIECE on Catholics' reactions to the criminal Trump winning the election,  in which they note what the catho-fascists differ greatly from Catholics who try to, you know, be Christian, I thought about what Sr. Simone Campbell said about why Pope Francis was so timid about making radical change, that he didn't want there to be a schism during his pontificate.

Well, I don't think that's an option anymore, in fact, I think there has been a schism going on for a long time as those who aspire to live as Christians cannot tolerate the Catholic right who clearly don't.   It has been such Catholics who have left the official Church, some for other Churches (I know one such priest who is now a minister at a United Church of Christ) or for Intentional Eucharistic Communities or the exiled order of Roman Catholic Women Priests or just as unaffiliated Christians.   That's going to get worse, now, as the millionaire-billionaire funded take-over operation that has been so strong in the United States gets boosts - their greatest tool is exploiting the cardinals' and bishops' and many priests'  love of money and wealth.   Truly the love of money being the root of evil is made manifest in the actions of so many of them, everything from luxurious living to just the necessity of re-roofing a cathedral or church building.

As the U.S. bishops have been dominated by the appointees of JPII and Benedict XVI, the quiet, unofficial schism has been in full swing.  As Pew has pointed out, "ex-Catholics" are one of the largest religious groups in the country.  I'm sure the same is true for many other countries with large Catholic populations.  That's certainly a schism, even if it's one that doesn't produce one or even many groups.  The fretting in Rome over the tiny little groups like the Pius X cult or the even tinier ones that claim Pius XII or even earlier popes were the last legitimate pope while the huge exodus from the Catholic Church has gone on in plain sight is bizarre.   Benedict's idiotic permission of the nutters to say Latin masses and form a cult around it was in service to luring back those cults who were generally far more apostates from Christianity than from Catholicism has led to all kinds of trouble.

I hope either Pope Francis or his successor will face the fact that they have to make a choice, they can either give those who want to try to live as Christians a home in the Church or they can choose the billionaires and millionaires and the cultists they fund and encourage.

This is a product of me doing something I generally never do, listening to one of John Allen's Youtubes from his Crux platform and looking at the loony tunes comments from Catholic cultists.   John Allen was whining about the Pope cutting the Cardinals pay, using his connections as a former Vatican reporter to claim that low level workers are worried that it's going to mean a pay cut for them too.   As if there's anything like a comparison between the luxurious lives of many of the "Princes of the Church" and char women.   If you want to read cultist paranoia and hate, I'm sorry to tell you that you can find it in abundance on many a Catholic Youtube comment thread, if not in the videos, themselves.

I'm disgusted enough with the Cardinals and Bishops in the U.S. that if there was a church in my town, I might not choose to attend it,  I certainly would be careful of where my donations were ending up and what they were supporting.
