Paul Hindemith Playing His 1939 Sonata for Viola and Piano

This is one of the pieces I always wanted to play but I could never find a cooperative violist with the chops to do it.  The piano part is pretty challenging, I wouldn't try it myself these days.

As can be heard, Hindemith was a virtuoso on his chosen instrument.  He is one of a number of composers who chose to play viola instead of violin or cello.

Paul Hindemith, viola; Jesús María Sanromá, piano
