Hate Mail

Oh, I doubt Duncan Black was talking about me when he made the effort to write a few hundred words on the alleged disrespect shown to "the youngs".   I don't disrespect people because of what age they are, I disrespect alleged adults who act like they've never made it past jr. high.  Most of those at his blog who I mention are pushing the senior years, those who aren't pulling them after them like a toy whose left wheel is stuck and doesn't move.  That is excluding a few who seem to be showing signs of dementia.

I wouldn't be surprised if Duncan wasn't, at times, pretty fed up with the remaining rump of his once diverse, raucous blog community.   Like it was eleven years back.  It's all about that pubescent push to conformity, now, the nervousness of the quasi-adults among them about how willing most of them are to see everything go to hell if they don't get their way, about the only thing that disturbs the consensus POV there, today.  But it's all the rapidly aging middle aged to early elderly who that happens among.

"Youngs" at E-ton?  Yeah, in your dreams.

Hate Update:  Tlaz thinks I should go back to Duncans?  No because. a. He banned me and I am not going to post comments on a blog where I've been banned.  I've always said that a blog owner has the right to decide those things, it's his place.b. I wouldn't want to cause any excitement on his blog, some of the geezers might have a stroke if something exciting happened, it might attract people to it and few to none there have anything worth hearing.  c. Can be bought but I won't be bored.

Hate Update:  I didn't read Duncan, I report what was sent to me.

  1. My problem with the "youth" is that all they seem to want is to get their college debts erased and stick it to the businesses who won't hire them (which apparently excludes Google, Uber, or any other Silicon Valley/app giant who might be hiring). They hate "Wall Street" because they know the phrase, not because they know anything. And they are disgruntled that the Democrats won't give them their way, despite the fact Hillary leads in the primaries by over 2.5 million votes over Sanders.

But those are "old people" votes, they should only count as 10$ of the total, or something,

"young people" this time around (older than 18, presumably, but younger than....what? 24? 29?) are doing what they did in '72 when 18 year olds got the vote: nothing. Nixon won by the greatest landslide in history, where was the "youth vote"? It got old and voted for Reagan 8 years later, is where it was.

Same thing will happen this time. Sanders will be a memory, and 4 or 8 years from now today's "youth" will be adults or even parents with other interests than college debt and "Wall Street" to occupy (!) their minds.

Same as it ever was. Honestly, I wish it were different this time around. But I know it won't be.

    1. I can't believe what idiots some people are. A nephew of mine said that if Bernie Sanders doesn't get the nomination he'll vote for Trump. I think what that shows is how effective the demonization of Hillary Clinton has been, he can't even articulate why he doesn't like her, he only knows that TV has been telling him he should.

I am rather astonished at how few of "the young" are entirely ignorant of anything about history. I used to figure that they thought the world began with their birth but a lot of them don't seem to be able to remember sixteen years ago, even the ones in their 40s.

Duncan says he doesn't want to tell people how to vote. The guy who legend says was depicted in a walk-on part on The West wing when he raised money for Democrats way back-a when. I don't know why anyone would bother. He doesn't even post cat pictures anymore. I wonder if he got too paunchy for his gray pullover.

    2. A bunch of commenters at Salon won't vote for Clinton because she's "evil."

They're serious, too. I don't even bother to ask them what they think "evil" means. Why bother?

      Kids these days.....

    3. It's not just kids, the geezers at Duncans' and a whole host of other blogs are pretty much all hatin'-Hillary all the time. I don't remember them hating on Bush II as much as they hate on her. I think his blog, if it were a force, would be a force to elect a Republican in November. I'm told he's got a post up saying he thinks reading The Foundation was good for him. He thinks being a little selfish is good or something. Not tempted to go read it but wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't accurate. I remember the day I realized he was a lot more of a libertarian than he was a liberal. I don't think he's particularly interested in "the poors".

    4. Simps is pointing out that I mistyped but that was what the comment said. I guess I didn't care enough to pay attention.

That would be very hard to do. Sort of like trying to convert from VHS to Betamax.

    1. Oh, dear, you don't realize that it's entirely possible, do you.

I have no interest in reading any more of Duncan and the Tots than I have this week. Duncan seems to be going through mid-life crisis. From what I was sent it doesn't seem likely he's going to navigate it with a renewed sense of purpose and resolve, that would be too much like work. It would harsh his mellow, or something.

It's official -- you actually have no idea what a joke is. Amazing.

    1. I know what a joke is and I know what a failed attempt to make one is, if I didn't before, reading you would have taught me that.

  4. "I know what a failed attempt to make one is,"

Unsurprising, since all of your attempts fail.

    1. Fail to sink to your level of comprehension perhaps? Though I know for a fact you've used things I said here at E-ton.

    1. Brazen it out all you like, we both know what I said was true. That is unless you're so used to stealing material you do it without thinking about it. Well, that wouldn't be a surprise, you don't do much thinking. Probably why you're one of Duncan's favorites, you provide him with so little work.
