Brahms Symphony no. 3 op. 90 Piano-4 Hands

1st and 2nd mvts, Yuka Beppu - Machiko Syojy
3rd mvt, Kaede Tomita - Yui Hirao
4th mvt, Yuki Osaki Mayu Wakakuwa

I just can't stop smiling when I hear this and see the young women and men playing this music.  I think this was the symphony which, after hearing Brahms and another pianist playing it some idiot of a music critc said the experience was like being beaten by some kind of very sophisticated  thugs. Which only shows how stupid some critics can be in the face of greatness.

The video notes say it was arranged by Brahms and (Robert) Keller.  I don't know if it is a revision of Brahms' original 4-hand arrangement or if it is another transcription.  I'm too groggy from cold meds to read through the scores to see.   Robert Keller made a large number of piano and piano 4-hand transcriptions for Brahm's publisher Simrock, I believe in Brahms' case with his approval.  It's long been a way for musicians to hear and play music they would almost certainly never get a chance to conduct.   There is nothing like playing one of these as a way of getting to know music more intimately than just listening to it can.   Most people who play these do so, in private.

  1. "Most people who play these do so, in private."

And wearing period costume, for obvious reasons.

  2. You know, Simps, you've got one of the weakest methods of argument there is, pretending your opponent said things they didn't and pretending their examples are something they aren't.

I think everything you know about period costume is on par with Hedda Hopper's idea of it. You've got a lot in common with that old bat, I mean other than age and pathological addiction to mendacity. Stupidity, for example.

    1. You are a. not honest enough, b. not informed enough, c. not sufficiently knowledgeable, d. too lazy to know what you're talking about, e. not mis. enough, f. too otherwise a doofus for me to be vulnerable to your piss poor attempt to mount mockery of me. The more you try it the more you seem to piss off your less doofy Baby Blue play circle. If you want to do that, go for it.

  4. You're a figure of fun, Sparky. All the bluster in the world can't change that fact.

    1. It's not unknown for children to make fun of adults. It doesn't bother me, anyone of any seriousness knows you're a dolt and a liar. You're the Roberto Benigni of Eschaton.

  5. The expression "figure of fun" does not mean what you think it means, Sparky.

Which I suppose is the cream of the jest.

    1. I do when it's in the hands of those like you and Roberto Benigni. You've got a lot in common with that ass, except that you're physically as well as intellectually lazy.

  6. Shows what you know, Sparky -- I thought his "Life is Beautiful" was even more contemptible about the Holocaust than your "Move the Jews of Israel to Arizona."

    1. Oh, yeah, that's right. You figure that making an insanely crass, vulgar, lying, dishonest Hollywood honored, brain dead movie minimizing the evil of the Nazi murder machine by totally trashing history by a totally obnoxious, unfunny Italian pseudo-comedian is the equaivalent of wishing Jews had been offered free immigration to the United States, the place where you've lived in comfort and relative safety for your entire totally obnoxious, crass, vulgar, lying, unfunny, brain dead, Hollywood sucking, NY-guy life.

How about the locus you've had your bottom seated on for your entire life? I wonder what the result would be if Israelis were offered the ability to relocate to YOUR area of the United States with the possibility of full U.S. citizenship if they gave up their Israeli citizenship. I wonder what the result would be if they were offered an equivalent land in the United States to found a state, a contiguous landmass with guarantees of security. My prediction would be that millions would jump at the offer. I bet that what Howard Zinn called a huge mistake would empty out, minus the fanatics and the war criminals and neo-fascists - aka, the Likud etc. who would hold out for the only place they have the prospect of gaining power.

I'm always so unimpressed with people with their asses planted on North America hoping that other people defend Israel to the last Palestinian AND Israeli. Clearly you guys are prepared for any number of Jews and Arabs getting killed as long as it's not you and our immediate loved ones. You call that "standing on principle" or some such thing.

Why don't you go defend Israel, putting your own sweet fat on the line, if you feel so strongly about that.

    1. Transparent deflection doesn't work, Simps, except to those who don't care about the truth.

The idiots protesting at Trump rallies are doing half of his work for him. I've read enough about the tactics of the Nazis as well as their biological racist theories to know that Trump is doing exactly the same thing they did with the disruption of his rallies. Your beloved free press will do most of the rest of it for him as it decides that he's their best hopes for more profits and tax giveaways.

You guys and your total inability to even learn history, never mind learn from it as you preen and pose and seek attention are what has killed the left. See, unlike Duncan, I don't mind telling "the left" when they are being counterproductive, fascist-enabling asses. Only that left is no left. Not if ever doing something in reality is the goal. You can tell Erin and Stoat and whoever else is all about Bernie's never-will-win campaign I said so.

You know, you're right. There are countless references to Charles Darwin in Trump's THE ART OF THE DEAL.

    1. Published only because it's such a perfect example of how Simps misrepresents what was said because he can't deal with what was really said. He is a perfect example of a conceited, college-educated member of the mediocre, mid-brow untillectual who, daily, if not hourly embodies Bertrand Russel's observation about stupid people inevitably misrepresenting what smart people say because they can't understand what smart people say. Obviously the thing they don't understand doesn't have to be particularly complex in the case of Simps.
