"It seems to me that to organize on the basis of feeding people or righting social injustice and all that is very valuable. But to rally people around the idea of modernism, modernity, or something is simply silly. I mean, I don't know what kind of a cause that is, to be up to date. I think it ultimately leads to fashion and snobbery and I'm against it."

Thelonious Monk: Well You Needn't Gabriele Toia - Clavichord
It was good, wasn't it. Though I have to confess, I posted it to annoy a troll who would know exactly why I posted it. Exactly the same reason I posted Tantrum A-go-go, though that was funny. "The Cool Ones" was a funny movie, almost like a John Waters movie without the gratuitous grossness and with more sophisticated camera work and continuity. The last scene with Mrs. Miller singing "It's Magic" is pretty hilarious. She was a real trooper who had no illusions about what she was doing.
Monk on clavichord!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks!
