Comment And Response

I don't know too many atheists that would agree. I think most people, atheist or believer, tend to view Stalin as a tyrant. I think many tend to see Mao in the same light.

Also, they are not unique historical figures. History is littered with figures who've committed massive crimes either in the name of God or Country.

You don't get to pick and choose what atheist political regimes you are going to take responsibility for, as an atheist, UNLESS YOU ADMIT THAT RELIGIOUS PEOPLE AREN'T RESPONSIBLE FOR ALLEGEDLY RELIGIOUS TYRANTS THAT THEY DIDN'T SUPPORT.  You don't get to set up a double standard for your own benefit that way, there is no logical or moral reason for religious people to allow atheists to do that.

And there were plenty of atheists who supported Stalin and Mao*. I am old enough to remember them. I have come to the conclusion that most of the Marxists and other species of atheists are mostly interested in asserting their atheism, not in some allegedly higher motivation. I became convinced of that by looking into the writings of neuro-"scientists", evolutionary-psychologists, abiogenicists, and multi-universe "scientists" whose primary motivation is, exactly that, asserting atheism within science where it has no place anymore than asserting Christianity with science does.

The atheists who have tried to push the vast majority of the population out of the left or to intimidate them into silence about their religious motivations don't really care about moving a real leftist agenda forward. I came to that conclusion seeing how many of those who moved from the alleged atheist left to becoming atheist right wingers in an easy step instead of a great leap. Atheists make lousy leftists because they don't really believe the metaphysical requirements for being a liberal are real, free will, inherent rights, equality and, as important as any of them, a moral obligation to respect those in other people. After the past twelve years of observing them online, I'm done pretending that the atheist pseudo-left is anything but a disaster for leftist politics and the people and the biosphere that depend on our success.

*  And even Pol Pot.  I remember some idiots who were elated when he overthrew the Cambodian government.  There was a somewhat prominent member of the left who entirely lost my respect when, well into the blood bath there, he defended them on the basis of "sovereignty".
