John Roberts: Everything You Didn't Know About His Sh*tty Past
It is impossible to fully express my disdain for Roberts and the rest of his racist liar Republican-fascist majority, It might be possible that I hate him more than Richard Nixon.
If any so-called Court reform doesn't nullify the Marbury power that has been used to destroy equality, democracy, economic justice, etc. it will be no reform. The Roberts Court's record should be the last straw.
This biography reaffirms my conviction that academic prowess is no indicator of intelligence ( which I’ve come to measure by reasoning and wisdom, i.e., insight) I’ve never been impressed with Roberts’ legal analyses, which always seem far more ideological than carefully studied legal arguments. Academic accomplishments aren’t damning; they just don’t indicate much except the ability to jump through a very particular set of hoops. This is not necessarily a problem; but neither is it “objective proof” of ability.
ReplyDeleteThe proof of the pudding, as the saying goes, is in the eating. And academic prowess is largely an uneaten pudding. Even the prodigy who graduates college with a Ph. D. at 13 has to go on to do something in the world. It is what they do which is how they are truly assessed. Even lifelong academicians have to do something in their academic career.
It's also no substitute for moral formation which, it's clear, his elite Catholic prep school failed him in completely. The number of morally abominable figures in the law, politic, the media, academia, etc. who share Roberts' general history of an allegedly Christian prep school to Ivy or Ivy equivalent university and grad school is overwhelming proof that the alleged moral and character building that supposedly goes on there is likely to produce more effective thugs and gangsters. I wish Pope Leo would consider that problem and consider shutting the worst of them down. That would be the ones attracting the ruling class to put their brats in them.
