I do have to say it's something rather comical, how the people who will rise up in fury when a "westerner" (as they, themselves almost inevitably are) "wants to impose your morality" on, in this case "the Chinese people" will, then, have no problem with Buddhism, a foreign religion in China and much of the rest of the world where it is professed, after all, doing the same thing. I guess when it's one "exotic" entity being imposed on "exotic people" (and admit it, that's what these People are for you) that makes it OK.
There is nothing that honors "a culture" more than wanting the people who hold it to change their behavior SO THEY CONTINUE LIVING INSTEAD OF DYING. But, to do that you have to hold THE PEOPLE, THEMSELVES in higher regard than you do their habits, what "culture" consists of, in the end. The same reason I wish smokers and drinkers would change their consumption habits. Or are chain smoking and alcoholism equally sacrosanct as "culture" where those addictions are widespread? How about slavery and child rape, those are endemic to some cultures.
