Democrats have to demand that Mueller come in and testify and they'll have to insist that he answer questions. I don't know if allowing Barr to lie to them is part of a larger strategy, I hope it is and I hope they call him on it. If they don't find some way to punish that scumbag it will only enable the next one. No more impunity for criminals like him.
Update: Remember yesterday when I linked to the Honorable Glenda Jackson addressing the idea of honoring Margaret Thatcher, something I love to watch once or twice a year, here's one that's as delicious, The Honorable Maxine Waters proving she's ten times times ten times smarter than Steve Mnuchin
Barr made me think of Mitchell today. Mitchell was a better liar and more accomplished at being devious. Which isn't exactly a compliment, but everything Trump touches dies (yeah, that's not original) and Barr needs to learn the role if he's gonna play Mitchell.
ReplyDelete'Cause he's not doin' it right.
The most amazing thing to me have been the DC-NYC lawyers who have worked at the DOJ and other places who have, up till now, said things about relying on Barr being an "institutionalist" as if that was a virtue when "institutionalist" includes a lawyer who wrote up the Bush I pardons. Not to mention his audition memos that he wrote to get the Attorney General job from Trump. You have to wonder if all of these elite lawyers aren't drawn from a bit higher up, perhaps, in the same barrel of rot.
DeleteYeah, the idea that Barr surprised anyone is a joke. He took the job. Was he expected to defy Trump? Who expected that?
DeleteThe other thing is: he's making Sessions look like a legit AG.
