Not to single out Sidney Powell, all of the lawyers and liars of FOX are as deserving of what she finally got in this kind of grilling but the obsessive publicity hound asked for what she got.
That any of these people still have the ability to act as lawyers is an indictment of the entire legal profession and the judiciary that permits them to do what they've done.
I freely admit I don't know the accepted grounds for disbarment in Texas, other than fooling with the clients money. It requires a civil suit by the State Bar,so it's a legal action, not an administrative function. Which means you don't instigate proceedings if you don't have solid grounds for a favorable judgment.
ReplyDeleteBut there should be grounds available for removing Powell from the rolls of the State Bar of Texas. She is an embarassment to the rest of us. Misrepresenting your case to the court is a highly contentious point (what I call a valid reading of law the court may call malarkey; it's what makes court cases and horse races). But upfront lying to the court and mispresenting facts because you didn't bother to evaluate them before making them the basis for your claim, is another matter.
I can't truly say, from so far outside the matter, that Powell would lose a suit brought by the Bar. But that Bar has an obligation to the rest of us (those who are also licensed through it) to defend our honor and the reputation of the profession and remove this person from our club, as it were. She's not fit to represent anyone in any court, anywhere.
I hope to see them do something about it.
