Listening to this Canadian crackpot talk about rape is one of the most incredibly bizarre things I've heard yet this year.
There are a few other professional fields where someone could get away with being as fricken loony as Jordan Peterson is and no one would consider firing him except psychology. That such a nutcase and intellectual phony holds a faculty position at a major North American university shows that the entire field is bullshit. It should be as big a scandal as when the idiots in evo-psy all of a sudden noticed that the flaming anti-semite Kevin Macdonald was publishing science that wouldn't have been out of place in Germany in the late 1930s but, of course, it being psychology it isn't.

More of a disgrace than a lunatic? I think he knows what he's saying is false, he even probably knows some of it is stupidly false but, then, he's peddling it to people who don't know and don't care. I think both of them are monumentally amoral.

ReplyDeleteWhen I posted a FACT, (in Canada, laws are in place that have been enforced in which people are sued because they hurt someone's feelings, they are called "moral damages," lol) you immediately said, "Just because Jordan Peterson..." though I, of course, never brought the man's name up. Nor would it make the fact that it happens somehow untrue.
Thank Cathy Newman for this mess. "So you're saying..." is a meme for a reason. It got him attention and sales. If you had a sense of humor and not blind partisanship, you'd see why.
PS - My cousin says they don't like him very much in Canada either. Still time to move.
PSS - And I don't say that with malice. You read like a guy in a violent relationship. You never stop complaining about how horrible and evil the United States is (and about some old silent movie that no one but film majors have seen since the Hoover administration) but won't move fifty miles to be a country that seems more in line with your Big Brother values.
I got out of a very destructive relationship once. Hurt like hell but I thank the good God every day I did it.
You ever gotten a load of his social media fans? And you say I'm obsessed? Did you happen to notice that the people he was saying this to included Trump jr? One has to wonder if Professor Peterson realized he was saying that to a guy whose father bragged about how he could assault women and get away with it, on video tape, who was having affairs with porn stars and magazine porn while his second step-mother had just given birth to his step-brother? Not to mention Little Trump's own reported behavior.
