"It seems to me that to organize on the basis of feeding people or righting social injustice and all that is very valuable. But to rally people around the idea of modernism, modernity, or something is simply silly. I mean, I don't know what kind of a cause that is, to be up to date. I think it ultimately leads to fashion and snobbery and I'm against it." Jack Levine: January 3, 1915 – November 8, 2010 LEVEL BILLIONAIRES OUT OF EXISTENCE

Jack Levine: Prophet of Our Time
The more I see the Trump regime coming together the more I feel like we're living in a world as illustrated by Jack Levine. It just came to me while thinking of Rudy Giuliani that he, especially in his present form in which his inner evil is obvious in his appearance, that he could have stepped right out of one of the paintings of gangsters or plutocrats or oligarchs, which are all one in the same in his commentary on American society.
BTW, Sparkles, at times like these, it is a source of great comfort for me to know that I, along with my fellow Red Sea Pedestrians, can move to Arizona where we'll be just fine.
ReplyDeleteOf course, when I talked about the desirability of Jews being offered territory donated from the United States (and though I mentioned Arizona, I also mentioned other locations, including in my home state) it was as compared to them staying in Europe to be murdered by the Nazis and others or to make the mistake of colonizing Palestine where, as such Jews as Einstein and Hannah Arednt predicted, a Jewish homeland would devolve into military fascism, surrounded by dispossessed Palestinians and their relations and fellow Muslims who would be a continuing source of attacks and anxieties and who, with Israeli counterattacks and, considering that not a few of the founders of Israel were violent facists, aggressive attacks, would grow in their resentment of such an Israel.
DeleteOf course, during all of that time, you've had your fat ass planted in the relative safety of North America, in the very country you would exclude Jews from. I would guess that at many times in that history, from the 1930s till today, if either such an alternative Jewish homeland were offered or if U.S. citizenship were offered, more would have taken it than the alternative.
I'd like to know the percentage of Jews who have been murdered in Arizona since the beginning of the Zionist colonization of Palestine as opposed to those who were murdered as part of that failed experiment. I say "failed" because I assume they were sincere in wanting to establish a democracy instead of the apartheid-fascist system it has devolved into.
If there were several million more Jews in the United States, as citizens, Trump would almost certainly have never won the electoral college count. Especially if they had been concentrated in what are considered safe, Republican states or even swing states. I'd certainly love to have them here, you obviously want to keep them living under attack in the increasingly fascist Israel.
I could point out that if Jews were concentrated in Northern Maine, it would be entirely blue and we'd have more than the four, divided electoral votes we have.
I don't and never have, for the record, thought of you as Jewish. As far as I'm concerned, you are an asshole and that puts you in quite a different category, anatomical, not ethnic.
"I'd certainly love to have them here."
ReplyDeleteThat's mighty white of you, Sparky. Of course, you don't get to decide for the Jews of Israel, and it's quite obvious you still don't understand how offensive it is for you to suggest shit like this in the first place.
I understand that it's better for Jews to not be murdered than it is for Zionists to set up a state on stolen land that inevitably, turned into a military-apartheid-fascist state.
DeleteYou obviously don't care about Jews getting killed in Palestine. Which doesn't surprise me, as you are a total egoist and you don't live there, your sweet fat is safely living the good life in the United States, certainly one of the safest places Jews have ever lived, certainly safer than Israel.
I just knew you'd double down. Go fuck youself, you anti-semitic asswipe.
ReplyDeleteWhen the topic is keeping Jews and Palestinians alive as opposed to being coerced into silence by an asshole, I'm willing to triple down, quadruple down, ....
DeleteIf it were just a matter of pissing you off it might not have been worth it but I'm not going to just let the longstanding lie that has gotten so many killed pass without acknowledging that is the result of telling that lie, never again.
— I just wanted to say, he said. Ireland, they say, has the honour of being the only country which never persecuted the jews. Do you know that? No. And do you know why?
ReplyDeleteHe frowned sternly on the bright air.
— Why, sir? Stephen asked, beginning to smile.
— Because she never let them in, Mr Deasy said solemnly.
A coughball of laughter leaped from his throat dragging after it a rattling chain of phlegm. He turned back quickly, coughing, laughing, his lifted arms waving to the air.
— She never let them in, he cried again through his laughter as he stamped on gaitered feet over the gravel of the path. That’s why.
Well, as I've never said that all I can say is, go argue with someone who did.
DeleteIt is ironic, dopey, that you're essentially advocating the policy for the United States that is alleged Ireland had in that passage. I'm the one who would like to have more Jews here, you obviously wouldn't.
Are you really so stupid that you don't understand those points?
There's a word for your claim that I'm advocating for keeping Jews out of the USA.
ReplyDeleteIt's "lie." And you fucking know it. And get back to me to when you have the slightest clue why the state of Israel exists and why you don't get to wish it out of existence.
Honey pie, you're the one who keeps complaining because I would like to have more Jews living in the United States in the same safety you enjoy than living under threat of attack and, in the most (perhaps justified) paranoid fear of a nuclear holocaust in Palestine.
DeleteI've always said you didn't have the even the slightest and most primitive notion of the properties of numbers, you apparently have a far lesser notion of the properties of logic.
Why Israel was claimed to have been started was to have a "safe homeland for Jews". As Jacobo Timmerman pointed out, if that really was the goal it was obviously a total failure as Jews are probably far safer in many other places than they are in Israel. I don't recall which Jewish author it was who opposed Jews living in Israel because it would make the job of wiping them out far easier if they were all in one place.
Sometimes I suspect the real reason Zionism started was that a bunch of guys in Europe wanted to have political power but they knew they couldn't get it unless they started a state. But, as far as I know, no one ever found a document expressing that so we'll have to go with what they did claim.
If Israel was started for the purpose of Jews having a safe place to live, it's a flop. If you claim that it's safer for Jews in Israel than in the United States and that Jews should stay there instead of coming here, why are you living here in this place where the pogroms are mostly all in your fevered imagination. I really would like to know the numbers of Jews who have been murdered in the United States since 1948 as compared to those murdered in Israel. I would guess that they are, actually, one of the less often murdered minority groups, murdered for their identity. Certainly fewer than those murdered for being Black or Latino or Women or LGBT, I'd guess in the past two decades, less than those murdered because they were or were suspected of being Muslims. Though my slight amount of research on that question in the past hour has given me some really interesting stuff on related matters.
Actually, in reality, your policy on Jewish immigration is close to Trump's for Muslims. How do you like them apples?
Keep digging, Sparky. Any Jew who reads what you just wrote knows exactly what you're really saying.
ReplyDeleteOh, I would suspect that the large majority of Jews who read what I said would notice I advocate the goal of the largest possible number of Jews and Palestinians living out their natural lifetime, dying in peace on their deathbed, surrounded by the living and intact families. And then to go to heaven.
DeleteIt's my experience that most of the Jews I've known have been honest and literate, I have met assholes who identified as Jews, but not many as compared to gentiles. As far as I'm concerned, you're a asshole, nothing else.
"Sometimes I suspect the real reason Zionism started was that a bunch of guys in Europe wanted to have political power but they knew they couldn't get it unless they started a state. But, as far as I know, no one ever found a document expressing that so we'll have to go with what they did claim."
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you won't print this reply, Sparkles, but you really let the cat out of the bag with that one. Yes, you're an out and out classic those-perfidious-Jews anti-Semite. It's not even a question any more, you piece of shit.
You won't print a reply because the limited repertoire of your pat responses doesn't contain one that can respond to that.
DeleteThe fact is the Zionist program was started by a bunch of journalists and would-be political strongmen, few if any could claim to have believed in the promise of the land that became Palestine to Abraham as most of them were atheists.
I also can't remember the name of the American guy who went to stay at one of the oldest Kibbutzes in Israel (atheist-socialist) to find it was the only place he'd ever been where it was forbidden to observe the Jewish holy days. A little bit of quasi-Nazism among the super-nationalists of Zionism. And, yes, I put it that way to piss you off.
So -- lost your copy of THE PROTOCOLS OF THE ELDERS OF ZION, did you?
ReplyDeleteAs I said, you have a limited number of pat responses, when you don't have any response to what was said, you just throw one of those out.
DeleteImagine, someone doubting that journalists and politicians were sincere in what they said, oh, the humanity.
Really, what else could it be said of a place where it was forbidden for a Jew to freely, and in safety, practice their Jewish religion? And that was an expression consistent with Zionist ultra-nationalism but it would be entirely and completely inconsistent with the traditions and ethos of the United States.
So the reason you're an anti-Semite is because Jews are atheists?
ReplyDeleteFigures.
One of the reasons you're stupid is because you pretend I said something that stupid when I never did. Another is that you think someone who read what I said down to this place in the argument would believe your lie. That is if they weren't as dishonest as you are, I don't write for stupid, dishonest people, I'll leave that to you and your buddies.
DeleteYou made a big mistake leaving all this stuff up today, Sparkles. And I'm going to screen capture it, so you're nailed in perpetuity.
ReplyDeleteI've just been waiting for your ADD to kick in so it would be over so I could post it as a post.
DeleteI haven't said a single thing I'm ashamed of having said, though I'm sure when I look at it I'll see some typos and grammatical lapses. I'll fix those, what you said will be posted verbatim. I don't distort what someone says by cherry picking a passage to present dishonestly.
You know, you're welcome to never post another comment here or another lie about me. Considering your clearly failing powers of ... well, I don't think you've ever reasoned so whatever you did in lieu of that, I'd advise that course of inaction.
I know you're not ashamed, Sparkles. Hard-core bigots never are.
DeleteOnly a particularly obvious and unskilled liar would claim that what I said here was an expression of bigotry. With all the practice you've had with lying it's evidence that you must be quite distinctly stupid to not have gotten better at it.
DeleteI could point out your stupidity and dishonesty for as long as it takes though unless it gets more interesting I'm going to stop posting your comments. I should have given it up for Advent but I threw my back out stacking wood yesterday so I've been laid up all day and cranky. But I'm going to take a pain killer and try to sleep. If you have any I'd recommend that you take the whole bottle.
